a suitable position [post]; 〔芝居の〕 a fitting [suitable, well-cast] role [part].

・彼の今度の地位は適役だ. His new position is just right for him.

・ハムレットには君が適役だよ. You'd be perfect in [You're just right for] the role of Hamlet.

・この仲裁の役は青木に適役であった. Aoki was well cast in [suited to] his role as mediator.
